Our Impact
At RAQS, we are immensely proud of the significant and lasting impact we have made on communities across Birmingham, particularly within South Asian communities. Our work harnesses the transformative power of arts and culture to foster connection, pride, and cultural identity.
We hold a unique position as the only organisation actively working with Pakistani and Kashmiri communities on heritage, language, and identity projects. This specialism allows us to address the specific needs of these communities, helping preserve and celebrate their rich cultural traditions whilst strengthening their sense of belonging.
In partnership with the City Council Heritage Project, we have successfully preserved and promoted local heritage, creating a sense of pride and continuity among diverse populations. Our innovative collaborations with public health organisations have integrated arts into health and wellbeing programmes, promoting mental health, reducing social isolation, and enhancing community resilience. Our work with dementia and mental health groups through music and performing arts has brought comfort, joy, and meaningful connection to many facing health challenges.
Our vibrant musical and performing arts events attract large audiences, serving as lively platforms for cultural expression and community engagement. Additionally, we have introduced arts and heritage into schools, inspiring young minds and fostering a new generation of culturally aware, creative individuals.
Our dedicated efforts have empowered countless lives, broken down barriers, and built bridges of understanding and appreciation. The heartfelt testimonials from community members who have experienced healing, joy, and connection through our programmes stand as a testament to our impact.
Furthermore, our organisation benefits from the expertise, experience, and trust brought by our directors from the BBC Asian Network. Their leadership enhances our reach and effectiveness, ensuring our initiatives create meaningful and lasting change.
Together with community partners, local authorities, and educational institutions, RAQS continues to drive positive change—transforming Birmingham into a more inclusive, vibrant, and culturally rich city where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
