Healing Arts Festival at BETHAK

On Tuesday 23 June 2026, BETHAK welcomed women from across Birmingham for a day dedicated to creativity, culture and wellbeing as part of the Healing Arts Birmingham Festival.

The event brought together women from diverse communities in a welcoming and inclusive space where storytelling, folk music and creative activities encouraged conversation, reflection and meaningful connection. Throughout the day, participants explored healing arts, experienced the cultural tradition of henna, shared personal stories and celebrated heritage through creativity.

The festival highlighted the important role that creative health plays in supporting mental wellbeing, reducing isolation and strengthening community relationships. Through shared experiences and artistic expression, participants found opportunities to connect with others, celebrate their identities and build lasting friendships.

More than 50 women attended the event, reflecting the growing demand for accessible, culturally relevant creative health programmes that place people, culture and community at their heart.

The event was delivered by RAQS Art as part of the Healing Arts Birmingham Festival, with support from Healing Arts Birmingham, Birmingham City Council, Jameel Arts & Health Lab, and the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe.

The Healing Arts Festival continues to demonstrate that creativity is not simply an art form; it is a powerful way of bringing people together, strengthening communities and improving wellbeing. By placing culture, conversation and creativity at its heart, the festival is helping to build healthier, more connected communities where everyone has the opportunity to feel seen, heard and valued.
