South Asian Heritage Month 2025
Roots to Routes: A Celebration of Spoken Word and Ghazal
This South Asian Heritage Month, we celebrate the journey from Roots to Routes — embracing stories, voices, and melodies that connect our past, present, and future.
The month brought together powerful spoken word artists and the timeless artistry of Ghazal, creating an unforgettable celebration of culture, identity, and resilience. Audiences experienced the evocative storytelling of Mamoona Shafique, Mayussa, Tamanna, and Hassan, whose performances wove together personal and collective narratives, inspiring and uniting all who attended.
Adding to this vibrant tapestry, the legendary Ustaad Irshad Ali Mehdi captivated the audience with an evening of Ghazal, bringing poetry and melody to life with depth, grace, and emotion.
The gathering celebrated culture, language, and connection. From the gentle rhythm of verses to the warmth of traditional chai, every moment resonated with meaning and memory.
The Roots to Routes series offered a space to reflect, connect, and celebrate heritage together. We thank everyone who joined us on this poetic and musical journey.
